Well, technically the time is supposed to be kept on the field, but apparently the refs were in over their heads near the end of the game and didn't pay any attention to it either on the scoreboard or on their own watches. And, I don't recall anyone accusing the Coeburn team on any impropriety in regards of the clock. Coeburn played a very good, hard fought game as did our Pound boys. It was an excellent game and the score did reflect that. Coeburn deserved to win and they did. My only regret is that such a bungle of the clock may overshadow the great efforts put forth by both teams. Both teams deserved better than that IMHO.
Oh and I meant to say the Coeburn field looked awsome.The work done on that field really paid off.Have to say it has to be one of the prettiest fields around here.
just wish they would have got a few of the humps out of it

The last time they were decent was when they had Ricky Hayes (his last year was 01 or 02, can't remember), but ever since then they've just had it rough .. I'm sure they'll eventually get better sometime in the future, but it's hard to say when exactly that will happen. </div></div>
The last year Coeburn had a good record was '01 Ricky Graduated in '04.

Agreed. The clock operator is only supposed to work off of the referee's discretion and his signals from the field. If the ref didn't give the signal, then that's his screw up and the clock operator did their job.
However, if we're gonna talk about the blocks in the back, how about 5 out of 7 coaches on Pound's sidelines being out on the field to the numbers for the majority of the game? Plus, about 3-4 of them yelling in the face of one of the officials for a late hit that wasn't one (the momentum of the players took them out of bounds, the tackle began in the field of play and couldn't be stopped). Feels like P-Nut football all over again.
Everyone knows that Pound is full of D1 talent but their coaches and officials around here are just to dumb to realize that they should be laying waste to everyone they meet.
Fight for a ball doesn't mean anyting unless the ball actually came out, jumping on someone that is down and trying to pull the ball away and fighting for is useless and takes time off the clock. Just from reading this the ball wasn't fumbled Pound players just started trying to take it away from the runner after he was down and on a running play the clock doesn't stop so without an actual fumble the clock would just keep going and even if there is a fumble the clock continues to run till the official signals for a stoppage by crossing his arms over his head, a whistle blowing doesn't stop the clock only the play. Apparently the play was dead and the Coeburn player was down and there was no reason to be fighting over a ball even if a Pound player came out of a pile with it the play was over and all they accomplished was to waste time.
I know it is useless to argue the point now since the game is over and the better team won; however, the ball did come out on this particular play without any whistle being blown so it was live and thus the ensuing scramble for the ball took place. I'm not entirely sure about the rules as far as stopping the clock in such situations. If its the refs prerogative to decide if it was appropriate to stop the clock in the event of a scramble and dog-pile for the loose ball, then fine. I couldn't tell who actually recovered the ball, so I have to leave that to the officials who awarded it back to Coeburn. But, since the score was within 5 points and that run off of the clock pretty much ended the game, I can understand why some people might feel slighted a bit since it seemed a bit botched in my opinion. Anyway, congrats to the Blue Knights on their win.
And, the field is really nice.
